OCD Treatment
Exposure and Response Prevention for Adults
Helping Adults Overcome Intrusive Thoughts and Compulsive Behaviors
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• Harm OCD: Fear of harming others or oneself.
• Religious/Moral OCD: Fear of offending God or excessive concern with morality.
• Contamination OCD: Fear of germs or contamination.
• Just Right OCD: Needing things to feel just right or complete.
• Health OCD: Excessive concern with illness or disease.
These thoughts can be distressing and lead to compulsive behaviors that temporarily alleviate anxiety. Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy is recognized as the gold standard treatment for OCD. It involves confronting feared situations or thoughts while refraining from compulsive rituals.
Your Journey to Recovery
In therapy, we’ll work together to develop effective coping strategies, challenge irrational beliefs, and gradually face anxiety-provoking situations. Success in ERP therapy requires commitment and active participation. Much of the progress happens through consistent practice and application of skills between sessions.
